Too much torture...

The book i read is called A child called "it". Many of my friends liked this book so i decided to read it too. What i liked about this book was that the main character David was strong and knew how to stand up for himself. His mother would always torture him by not feeding him for a long time, by not letting him play with his brothers and more. To survive, he would have to steal food from his classmates, the school's cafeteria, or from the store. I personally really enjoyed reading this book because i found it was interesting. It seems very cruel for one person to do all of this to her own son. This book is written in first person and is based on a true story so i wonder how the author survived all of the things that his mother did to him.
